Shipping Methods

EMS is one of international express postal services for sending documents and other goods with the highest priority. It is governed by Japan Post and delivers items in 2-7 days.

You can send laptops or digital cameras which you can not send by EMS. They handle large/heavy items.

UPS has many branches in the United States and delivers items speedily and conveniently.

They send items by ship and it takes longer time than by AIR, but the shipping cost will be lower.

They have a limit of weight and size and you can not track the items or apply insurance, but you can send items at lower price than by EMS. For small packets, the maximum weight is 2 kg. For printed matter, the maximum weight is 5 kg.

EMS

EMS has the highest priority of international mail and will be delivered speedily. It also has a loss and damage insurance system. We recommend it to send up to 30kg (or 20kg, depending on countries) of goods.

Insurance: A maximum of 2 million yen is paid for the actual loss. Claim amount under 20,000 JPY is free of charge. It is possible to upgrade the claim amount by adding 50 JPY for each 20,000 JPY.

Size/Weight Limit: Length of the longest side + girth= up to 3.0m, Length of the longest side= up to 1.5m, and up to 30 kg weight (depending on countries)

DHL

DHL is an international shipping company with a global network in over 220 countries and territories across the globe.

Insurance: AIU Insurance will cover your freight against loss or damage. The compensation to which you’re entitled is normally calculated against a limited liability clause.

Size/Weight Limit: It will be based on DHL. DHL handles large items which are not able to be shipped by EMS or Parcel Post. Foodstuff is prohibited. The volumetric or dimensional weight is calculated and compared with the actual weight of the shipment to ascertain which is greater; the higher weight is used to calculate the shipment cost.

UPS

UPS, or United Parcel Service Inc., is a package delivery company in the United States and one of the leading global providers of specialized transportation and logistics services to more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

They send items by airplanes speedily, but it costs high.

It is between AIR and SURFACE. It will be faster than by SURFACE and lower price than by AIR.

They send items by ship and it takes long time, but the shipping cost will be much lower.

International ePacket is an international registered airmail small packet with tracking service. Small items under 2kg can be sent for a cheaper price comparing to EMS (International Express Mail) or to registered small packets.
